WALL-E project - Revolutionizing Green Walls for Air Pollution Mitigation
Revolutionizing Green Walls for Air Pollution Mitigation through Bioactive Encapsulates
The WALL-E project aims to revolutionize the performance of green walls as a nature-based solution for mitigating urban air pollution.
The initiative focuses on the development and application of bioactive encapsulates, consisting of beneficial microbial consortia combined with biochar, designed for integration into green wall substrates. This innovative approach is expected to significantly enhance the ability of these systems to remove airborne pollutants, contributing to improved environmental quality in urban areas.
The project integrates advanced knowledge from environmental microbiology, plant–microbe interactions, and nature-based solutions, promoting a sustainable and highly innovative strategy to address contemporary urban environmental challenges.
By enhancing the efficiency of green infrastructure systems, WALL-E seeks to strengthen the role of cities in transitioning toward healthier, more resilient, and more sustainable environments.
The ANCV (Advisory Board) is involved in the project as a consultative body, providing strategic guidance and supporting the scientific and applied valorization of results, reinforcing the bridge between research, innovation, and societal impact.
